Curious Bloom Review & Giveaway

I am honored to have the lovely Alexis from Curious Bloom featured on Mom-a-Logues today.

Alexis is an arts and crafts addict through and through and absolutely adores felt flowers.

From Alexis….

"Curious Bloom began in early 2012 as the product of years of creative experimentation.  I've dabbled in almost every art medium at one time or another; when I started playing with felt, I knew I had found a lasting passion.  I had recently moved to a rural area, and the natural setting steered my inspiration towards flowers and leaves.  From there the ideas have come far faster than I am able to create them.  My work and my shop have evolved tremendously since I started, and it's showing no signs of slowing down.  The majority of my creations involve felt flowers, but it was inevitable that I would branch out at some point.  Felt birds and other animals are joining the party…who knows what will be next!

My core values for my shop are high-quality products and outstanding customer service.  Above all else, I want anyone who makes a purchase from Curious Bloom to know how much I genuinely care about my customers' satisfaction, and I will go our of my way to make sure they are happy.

I am highly supportive of the handmade movement, and I buy many of my supplies from other Etsy sellers.  I also make a lot of personal purchases on Etsy, because mass-produced, mass-marketed products will never compare to the quality, uniqueness, and just plain heart of something handmade by a real person doing what they love.

I am originally from Ohio, and eared my Art Education degree from Miami University in Oxford (Ohio, not Florida).  A few years after marrying my college sweetheart, we relocated to northern Virginia and it quickly felt like home.  We not live on a small farm with our 6 year old son, 3 year old daughter, 6 chickens (all named after flowers), and two ridiculous pet goats named Elvis and Gracie.  Life is good!"

I absolutely love that Alexis mentioned the uniqueness and quality that comes with purchasing handmade opposed to mass-produced items.  That is one of the main reasons I do these features and do what I can to support handmade artists such as Alexis.  There is just nothing quite like the feeling of handmade.

Alexis was so generous to send Alexa and Lillian a couple pieces from her collection.

First of all, I don't know if you can tell - but, these pictures were taken on a day that it rained nearly the entire day.  It was gloomy and cold, but the bright colorful combination of flowers in this sweet headband and you'd never notice, right?

The vibrancy of the colors and the unique flowers are what makes this headband so special.  It's also on a thin elastic band which looks really cute in Lilli's hair when it's all pulled up in a ponytail, too.

Alexa received one of Alexis' beautiful flower crowns.  What a beautiful piece for spring and summer.  And with all the colors, it will literally go with any one of Alexa's outfits or dresses.

So much personality in this piece.

The handmade felt flowers are all securely attached to the strip of felt with satin ribbons on either side for tying.  The flower crowns are very versatile in that they can be worn with hair down or up in a pony tail.  The felt backing grips the hair to prevent slipping, but it's easily able to be secured with a few bobby pins, too, for extra security.

Alexis offers so many different styles of headbands as well as color combinations for flowers.  She can custom make a special piece just for you and that special occasion.

You will have to check out all her fun creations including felt flowered wreaths, brooches, hair clips and felt garland, too.
